The White Buffalo Society is a Native American Organization that was formed to teach our traditions and history to all who want to learn whether they be Native or Native at Heart. We hold one meeting each month, and one Pow Wow each July. We invite all who are interested to come and join us. Our society was created and formed by Frank and Terri Davison, Jim and Libby Mullins, Jim and Bev Fisher, Jack and Rebecca Devers, and Scenoral Steele. They all had a common goal in life--to not discriminate against anyone, but help all gain a better understanding of the people who helped pave the way to what we are today, our ancestors. They also wanted to assist those who are on the reservations in shelters or orphanages. And so the White Buffalo Society was formed, to bring people together, to help teach or to be taught. Today we carry on their goal, and see it through to the best of our ability.
Proceeds earned at our annual Pow Wow, as well as from other projects throughout the year, are sent to the reservations and local organizations such as A Better Way Women's and Children shelter. We also use the proceeds to plan the next year's Pow Wow as well.
Our Meetings Are Held Monthly at the Delaware County Senior Citizens Building
2517 W. Eighth Street, Muncie, IN.
They are Held the First Saturday of every month.
We Have a cracker barrel after every meeting, except our Christmas meeting, when we have a full carry in dinner {this is also our election month}.
All are welcome to join us - Native in blood or just at heart. We hope to see you all there!
At each meeting we try to hold at least one teaching lesson, mainly for the younger members, but for adults as well. We would like to invite anyone that is interested to come by and check us out on the first
Saturday each month. Our meetings are scheduled to begin at 6:00p.m. but of course we normally go with Indian Time, which means that there is usually at least a half-hour delay! |
